TalkStory Media is the next evolution of Bard’s Art. Here’s my story:
I started freelancing, or rather moonlighting, as a graphic designer in 2004. Working primarily with independent business owners and politicians, I created business cards, brochures, ads and flyers — marketing materials at a price my clients could afford.
The goal was to help my clients communicate their message effectively. To help the “little guys” look as good as the “big guys” and promote the small business community in my home town.
After a bit I realized I wanted a website to showcase all these awesome projects. So, next I learned web design through HTML. After a bit longer, it became apparent that I did NOT want to code websites in HTML. So, I learned WordPress and after not much time at all I was in love.
WordPress can be a simple or complex as you need it to be. Most of my clients can learn the basics in about an hour if they want to manage their own updates. It’s open-source (free) and infused with a wonderful community of designers, programmers and users that keep the software relevant and interesting.
As a WordPress Expert, I’ve had the opportunity to work on many amazing projects, launch fantastic websites, and learn from some of the top people in their industry.
Learning from and working with such dynamic people and companies led me to the next stepping stone: social media.
Along the way, I picked up some help. Bard’s Art became Talkstory Media and the “staff” doubled — from one to two. The goal is still to help our clients communicate their message. Now, instead of using business cards and brochures, we use websites and blogs, Facebook and Twitter. We focus on helping our clients share their message, so our clients can focus on the relationships that build their business.
Social media is more than just marketing buzz, it’s a way to re-build relationships in a fast-paced world that was fragmented by technology. Social media may sound “new” but really, it’s about old-school relationship building. I can dig that. Unfortunately, individuals and business owners that don’t understand the social media tools can lose out on the ability to connect with peers, clients and community.
Talkstory Media uses the best tools available to create, manage and monitor social media campaigns across multiple media. Our social media and promotion services will keep your brand top of mind on sites like Facebook, Twitter, and others if you like. We can manage, or even ghostwrite, your blog so that your customers are always informed about what’s going and growing in your business. (And, we still make business cards on occasion.)
Now, you know what we do. If you’d like to chat about how we can propel your business forward using social media and web 2.0 technologiese — so that you can get back to your business — then drop a note in our contact form. We’d love to hear your story, too.
